HistoryLink Connects Past With Present

Deadwood Chamber of Commerce ShieldFeb 1st, 2004 - The Deadwood Historic Preservation Commission has launched a comprehensive new campaign intended to promote the community’s history and heritage, link historic sites and provide a “map” of historic preservation efforts in Deadwood and around South Dakota.

Called “HistoryLink,” the project features a variety of components, including this website, a newsletter exploring ongoing historic preservation efforts throughout the state, and printed materials that allow visitors to connect the people, places and events of Deadwood beginning in 1876 to present.

"As one of the largest ongoing historic preservation projects in the U.S., we’ve got an important responsibility to interpret our history, our architecture and the people who have made Deadwood what it is today,” said HPC Chairman Mike Guilbert. “HistoryLink provides the means to achieve our goals, increase public awareness, and build support for preserving and interpreting this National Historic Landmark for future generations.”
